Comparing Trump’s speech during the Republican National Convention to his actions during his presidency from 2016-2020, should clarify voters’ views on whom they should vote for.
First of all, Trump said, “ I am running to be President for all of America…” in the very beginning of his speech at the RNC. In fact, he reassured Americans that he will be a President for all races and ethnicities, Democrats and Republicans. Trumps’ message reflected unity and peace as he consistently focused on Americans and a strategy of protecting the interest of the United States.
Most importantly, Trump pointed out the inflation and the economic struggles of the average American. Such a struggle is denied by President Biden through his “Bidenomics” claim. Evidently, the unwavering support for the two wars of Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Hamas have contributed significantly to the continued high inflation.
Trump’s Presidency from 2016 to 2020 made clear that he is not a warmonger. Therefore, Trump is promised again to “ restore peace, stability, and harmony all throughout the world.”
One of the major problems is illegal immigration, the negative effects of which are often denied and ignored by the Biden’s Administration . The lack of Biden’s leadership and ineffective border security policy has indeed contributed to this crisis. However, Trump’s policy in the past reduced the influx of illegal immigrants. Once again, Trump promised to strengthen the security and reestablish the border.
Distinguishing between legal and illegal immigrants can clarify the party’s / nominee’s agenda, and hence, voters can better understand the immigration process. It is important for Americans to realize that illegal entry to the United States is does not fit under any definition of the immigration process which is based on law.
In fact, for election purpose, some politicians are creating confusion among voters regarding immigration. Rejecting the illegal entry to the United States is definitely not a violation of the immigrants rights. Trump reiterated that on the day one he will close the border. Obviously, the sovereignty of a nation is defined bases on the security of its border.
“We want people to come in to our country, but they have to come in to our country legally.” Trump said.
During his speech, Trump evaluated the situation with Iran. It is noteworthy that compared to the past, Iran has become a greater problem especially after the Israel-Hamas war that began on October 7. Trump has dealt with Iran decisively in the past as his executive order resulted in killing the most prominent Iranian General, Qasim Suleimani. If elected, Trump will, however, have an immense challenge in the Gulf and in dealing with Iran.
The difference between Trump and other American politicians can be noticed in his understanding of economic agreements and relationships with the foreign nations and to what extent they are benefiting (or not) the United States. He reiterated the importance of having American factories inside the country and the independence of American laborers.
Trump mentioned the failure strategy of the American troops withdrawal under the Biden’s Administration from Afghanistan, which resulted in the killing of American soldiers and leaving military equipment worth millions of dollars.
Indeed, the lawmakers from both Democrats and Republicans either failed or did not have the courage to hold anyone responsible for such a foolish decision. Trump told people that under his administration, such chaos will not happen. During Trump’s Presidency nited States troops did not experience such a catastrophe as they did under Biden’s Administration.
Compassion, patriotism and unity were themes of Trump’s final speech at the RNC.
