This year, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) marks its 100th anniversary. As part of this year’s celebrations, DMV is excited to invite you to join us, the Colonial Rod Club, Kars Unlimited and Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia at our “Through the Decades: DMV Classic Car Show” on Saturday, September 14 at the Covington DMV in Mallow Mall.
The car show will showcase the evolution of automotive history, from vintage classics to modern marvels. We invite the public to bring their family and friends for a day filled with dazzling cars, fun activities, and great food to celebrate a century of service, partnerships and community.
“We are so excited to partner with the Colonial Rod Club and Kars Unlimited to welcome our community to celebrate the reason DMV started all those years ago, our cars,” said DMV Commissioner Gerald Lackey. “Seeing the passage of time through the cars is truly wonderful. And we are honored and humbled knowing that proceeds from this event are going to the amazing work that Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia is doing around our great Commonwealth.”
Since 1987, Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia has granted more than 5,800 wishes for children with critical illnesses in local Virginia communities. Together with generous donors, supporters, staff and volunteers, Make-A-Wish delivers hope and joy to children and their families when they need it most.
“We often hear from parents that the wish experience gives their child the strength needed to continue their medical journey,” said Sheri Lambert, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia. “We’re so thankful to partner together to help these grant life-changing wishes at such an amazing celebration of automotive and DMV history.”
