ROBERT L. MARONIC: The Democrat Demonization of Donald Trump Must Stop

Donald Trump has never been one of my most favorite politicians, especially after he demagogically questioned the legitimacy of former President Barack Obama’s birth certificate (birtherism) from 2010 to 2016. Then there were the numerous times during Trump’s presidency and since then when he – in a non-statesmanlike manner – often failed to shut his combative mouth while emulating his disgraced, disbarred and disputatious mentor Roy Cohn.

It must stop.

Then there has been Trump’s frequent use of the strongly ill-advised word “vermin” and the phrase “poisoning the blood of our country” to describe criminal illegal aliens, who have made a travesty of the U.S. rule of law. I firmly believe that Trump does not admire Hitler, the Nazi Party from 1933-45 – nor is he planning to use Mein Kampf as a playbook for his anticipated second administration; however, his Hitlerian terminology is not only stupid, but it is also a public relations nightmare.

It must stop.

Trump’s highly negative public behavior after de descended the escalator at Trump Tower on June 16, 2015 has often included high-sounding hyperbole, mean bullying, ad hominem attacks, juvenile name-calling (branding) and frequently referring to himself in the third person (illeism) like some wannabe Julius Caesar.

It must stop.

To say that Trump, a difficult irascible septuagenarian man-child, who once punched his second grade music teacher, is once again a problematic presidential candidate, is truly an understatement, but that is an unpleasant reality facing the Republican Party and American electorate.

However, after the attempted narrow near-miss assassination of Trump on July 13 at 6:11 p.m. in Butler, Pennsylvania, the Democrat’s demonization of Trump must stop.

The next day President Biden addressed the nation at 8:00 p.m. from the Oval Office urgently stating, “the political rhetoric in this country has gotten very heated. It’s time to cool it down. During the president’s six-minute speech he feebly tried to place the Trump assassination occurring within a “chain of recent violent events,” which primarily affected the Democrats such as the January 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, the October 2020 attempt to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) and the October 2022 vicious hammer attack on the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

First, I fully agree that the national “political rhetoric,” especially since last winter, has become much more than “very heated.” It has become toxic. I fully agree that the Democrats and namely Biden himself are primarily to blame.

Just last week in a private telephone call with Democrat donors, Biden stated, ” I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I am the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate. It’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.

“In a bullseye”?

Biden later admitted the next day that his lethal “bullseye” metaphor was a “mistake.”

Well, Mr. Commander-In-Chief, your incendiary comment may have inspired a twenty-year-old psychopathic sniper named Thomas M. Crooks, who barely missed his bloody “bullseye” by a minuscule one quarter of an inch near the right side of Trump’s head, which certainly would have been a kill shot.

Second, Biden’s surrogates have repeatedly and slanderously compared the 45th president to Adolf Hitler since 2015 although the Trump administration never once advocated nor tolerated antisemitism either within the U.S. or abroad from 2017 to 2021.  These surrogates have included such politicians as Hillary Clinton and Congressman James Clyburn (D-SC).

Never within the U.S. were there ever any death camps remotely resembling Dachau or Auschwitz. Never within the U.S. was there a totalitarian police state headed by the an organization resembling the Gestapo and backed by the Waffen SS. Never within the U.S. was there ever a Final Solution headed by an Army officer similar to Lieutenant Colonel Adolf Eichmann, who conducted the mass murder of six million Jews and five million non-Jews or untermenschen (subhumans) like at Jasenovac, Croatia during World War II.

The Democrat political slander and media propaganda disseminated by such “journalists” as Joy Reid of MSNBC, Mike Godwin of The New Republic, and many others have been so vile and vehemently defamatory that they have completely neglected to mention Trump’s overwhelming diplomatic success with Israel. This especially included his diplomatic breakthrough with the Abraham Accords, the transfer of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and the fact that Trump’s own daughter Ivanka, husband and their three children are all Orthodox Jews.

Shame on Joy Reid, Mike Godwin and other defamatory Democrat journalist-propagandists for comparing Trump to Hitler.

Unfortunately, the only malevolent logical outcome of comparing Trump to Hitler is to imitate the attempted assassination of Hitler on July 20, 1944 at the Wolf’s Lair in East Prussia. And that is precisely what happened to Trump on July 13 at 6:11 p.m. in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Third, the Democrats must stop stating that Trump is an “existential threat” to American democracy or a zealous advocate for the “termination of the Constitution” as though he has become some type of incipient fascist dictator such as Benito Mussolini since June 2015. This Democrat libel is so blatantly absurd that they cannot name one example where the Constitution or any branch of the federal government was legally abolished or destroyed from January 2017 to January 2021 or might even suffer a same fate after January 20, 2025.

And lastly, as Victor Davis Hansen has accurately observed on June 14 “it is as if the imagined killing of Trump has been mainstreamed and become acceptable in a way inconceivable of other presidents.” Hansen cited numerous examples since 2016 “among leftist celebrities and entertainers … talking about the various and graphic ways they would like to assassinate or seriously injure Trump.”

These have included Robert DeNiro wanting to punch Trump, Kathy Griffin wanting to decapitate him, Snoop Dogg wanting to shoot him, Anthony Bourdain wanting to poison him, Madonna threatening to blow him up, and Johnny Depp threatening to kill him just to name a small handful of fanatical potential Trump haters and murderers.

The Democratic demonization of Donald Trump needs to stop. However, will our senile past-his-prime puppet-president show any leadership in stopping this vicious vile vitriol, demonization and hate?

I sincerely doubt it because Biden’s domestic and foreign policies have miserably failed in the last four years, and the likelihood of him being the Democrat presidential nominee after August 22 when the Democrat National Convention ends in Chicago looks extremely doubtful.
