Vice President Kamala Harris claimed on August 10 in a video advertisement that she once worked at McDonald’s when she was an undergraduate student at Howard University. She later stated that she worked at the Golden Arches during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on August 22.
On August 29, the Washington Free Beacon reported that Harris never mentioned McDonald’s on her resume after she graduated from Howard University in 1986. Nor did she ever mention that she worked for the fast-food chain “until she ran for president in 2019, and began to make the job a centerpiece of her biography.”
A Harris campaign spokesman stated that she worked at McDonald’s in Alameda, California during the summer of 1983. However, she has neither offered any proof that she worked there nor has she asked the company to verify her employment.
Harris has repeatedly stated that she was raised in a middle-class home, and was the daughter of a divorced working mother. However, only the latter is true. She was actually raised in an upper middle-class household because both her divorced father, who later became a tenured Stanford economics professor, had a PhD in economics from the University of California at Berkeley while her mother, who eventually became a biomedical scientist at numerous universities in both the U.S. and Canada, had a PhD in biomedical sciences from the University of California at Berkeley. Of course, I am assuming that her father hopefully paid child support.
According to Forbes, Harris’ net worth combined with her husband is currently $8 million, and she has not even signed a lucrative book deal based on her four failed years as vice president. Her net worth most likely also does not include her “two pensions worth slightly under $1 million.” She now clearly has an upper-class income.
During Harris’ presidential campaign she has especially tried to ingratiate herself with the working class and poor in contrast to the “privileged upbringing of Donald Trump,” I find it extremely odd that she can not easily obtain an IRS copy of her McDonald’s tax return, and reveal it to the public. However, that may be a problem if Harris either never worked for the fast-food chain or most likely she only worked there for a few weeks or less because of an embarrassing reason such as a forced resignation or termination.
I highly suspect that Harris is hiding something in regard to her former employment with McDonald’s because she refuses to quantify her time working there. She refuses to state whether she worked there for one day, one week, one month or perhaps longer.
According to Snopes, a fact checking internet organization, both The New York Times and Politico reported she worked at McDonald’s “’between her freshman and sophomore years in college’” during the summer of 1983. Harris posted on X on June 14, 2019 that she “worked at @McDonalds when I was a student, doing french fries and ice cream. There wasn’t a family relying on me to pay the bills — but that’s the reality for too many workers today. Proud to stand with @SEIU [Service Employees International Union] today for livable wages and a safe working environment.”
On April 29, 2024 Harris told assistant host Ross Mathews on “The Drew Barrymore Show” that she once again “did fries, and then I did the cashier” at McDonald’s.
Snopes concluded that “there was no tangible evidence [my emphasis] of Harris working at McDonald’s as a college student. We reached out to Harris’ campaign, as well as McDonald’s headquarters, seeking tax records or other proof …. We also reached out to Harris’ sister, Maya, as well as a close friend from Howard University seeking comment, and looked for public interviews by friends or family members of Harris’ to confirm the story, with no luck.”
I think that it would be in Harris’ best interest with the November 5 election less than five days away to provide proof that she worked at McDonald’s during the summer of 1983. She could call cleverly it the “November Surprise.” If nothing else, it would certainly shut up former President Trump, who ridiculed her while working at a McDonald’s for fifteen minutes in Feasterville, Pennsylvania located twenty-one miles north of Philadelphia.
Surely, there must be a manager, owner, shift supervisor, co-worker or housekeeper, who worked with her at McDonald’s. Surely, there must be a boyfriend, vendor, roommate, customer or friend, who knew about her employment there. Surely, there must be someone, who remembers purchasing a scrumptious Big Mac, Filet-o-Fish or fries from a future infamous vice president of the U.S.
I most certainly know that if I worked with Harris at McDonald’s in Alameda, California “doing french fries and ice cream” in the summer of 1983, I would certainly have remembered her with no problem even if she only worked there a few days.
Surely, one of her few remaining staff assistants, who by some miracle has not yet resigned since January 20, 2021, could easily telephone IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel to request her 1983 tax return located in the archives. However, I am assuming that she even filed a tax return for 1983? If not, that is commonly known as tax evasion.
If Harris does not offer any proof of her employment with the Golden Arches, former President Trump, who is rightfully fixated on her 1983 summer job, will continue to ridicule, mock and troll her as both a liar and a phony through November 5. So will evening prime time television host Jesse Watters on Fox News.
The IRS is at the beck and call of Vice President Harris, who is the second most powerful politician in the U.S. All she has to do is make one simple telephone call to the IRS, and she would be given a copy of her 1983 McDonald’s tax return within hours. If she does not produce it, she is either hiding something embarrassing such as tax evasion, a forced resignation or termination.
Or she is simply lying like she has repeatedly lied about our disastrous and “secure” southern border, Biden‘s obvious cognitive decline since 2021 and disgracefully calling Trump a “Hitler” or the F-word (fascist) despite two bona fide assassination attempts on his life since July 13.
