Children’s Trust Roanoke Valley has announceed the keynote speaker for the 5th annual Golden Halo Awards Celebration on Thursday, April 11 at The Jefferson Center. Local veteran law enforcement officer and author Lt. Robert Chappell, Jr. will be one of the evening’s highlights.
Lt. Chappell will speak about child identity theft, a fast-growing crime affecting as many as 500,000 kids each year. His new book, Child Identity Theft: What Every Parent Should Know,” reviews why criminals are targeting children, the financial and emotional implications of discovering that your child’s identity has been stolen and what parents can do to protect and restore a stolen identity.
WSLS anchor Jay Warren will emcee the event, which will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres by Blue Ridge Catering and music by the Patrick Henry String Quartet. Golden Halo winners in various professional categories will be honored for their outstanding service in child abuse prevention and victim advocacy.
