SERWAN ZANGANA: Sometimes People Cast Their Votes Based on One Agenda

When Congressman Bob Good, (R. 5th Dist, VA) voted against the $95 billion spending bill for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan in April, it cost him the endorsement of the Republican Jewish Coalition and support during the Primary Election.

Additionally, as a result of his endorsement for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during the Republican Presidential Primary, Donald Trump endorsed Sen. John McGuire as Rep.Good’s opponent for the Virginia’s 5th District. The result of political interests of the Republican Jewish Coalition and Donald Trump created a significant bump on Rep. Good’s path in the Primary election. The recount has been complete and confirms that Rep. Good lost the Primary Election to Sen.McGuire with a small margin of 31,209 to 31,583 for the latter.

Rep.Good’s opposition to the $95 billion spending bill was based on reckless spending by the United States on the wars of Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Hamas. But Rep. Good reiterated that his support of Israel “remains unshakeable.”. Obviously, his vote against the $95 billion spending bill was based on the fact of the United States’ empty account. “Frankly, we borrowed 95 billion dollars that we don’t have.” Rep. Good said when he voted against the bill.

It is time for the United States lawmakers to vote on bills and spend money that completely serves the interest of Americans. Apparently, the political process and the election results in America are influenced by the interests of the foreign countries.

Evidently, American politicians are divided on such an important matter. Seemingly, the religious and diverse ethnic groups in America have always impacted election results and pushed the lawmakers to pass legislation that serves their origin countries.

Similar to the Republican Jewish Coalition stance, American Muslims took the same stance as they did not vote for Joe Biden during the Democrats Primary Election for his support to Israel in the war against Hamas. It seems both Jewish and Muslim groups voted based on one single agenda of each candidate. With the incline of immigrants and decline of spiritual connection with America, the election process loses its meaning.

The irresponsible spending of the United States is leading Americans to an unknown future. Rep. Good is on the right track as he transparently explained his vote against the bill, “We are nearly $35 trillion in debt, so the era of unpaid for supplemental spending bills must end.” He said.

The tone of the politicians’ voices change depending on the voters’ ethnicity, religions, and lifestyle. Often, the candidate creates an emotional connection with the voters, and hence, captures their votes. While the majority of the United States Senators and Representatives usually argue on spending money for services and assistance for Americans, the funds often quietly flows to wars.

The fact of American struggle is undeniable. Such a struggle is mostly attributed to the government’s policy and political agenda.
