There have been two attempts to assassinate former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13 and in West Palm Beach, Florida on September 15. I truly fear that the next assassin, especially a proficient shooter who has a clear line of sight, is not going to miss.
Not since former President Teddy Roosevelt was shot and wounded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 14, 1912 has a former president been so lucky to survive an assassination attempt when Trump was shot in the ear on July 13. That fortunate day in Milwaukee Roosevelt’s assassin, John Schrank, “shot [him] in the chest, striking his steel eyeglass case and a [thick folded 50-page] manuscript of the speech he was about to deliver.” This caused the bullet to be harmlessly deflected and lodged into his right chest muscle, which the surgeons never removed.
Brevity may well be the soul of wit but wordiness can – in some cases – save your life.
Despite Trump receiving Secret Service protection identical to a sitting president on September 20, I think that he should golf in the most secure golf courses in the U.S. Those are the golf courses operated by the U.S. Department of Defense.
If Trump wants to play golf in the future, he should play on a U.S. military base, which is infinitely more secure. The U.S. Army alone operates fifty-four golf courses in both the U.S. and abroad. However, the entire Department of Defense operates over an astonishing two hundred golf courses stateside and throughout the world.
For an itemized and alphabetized list of all the Department of Defense golf courses located in both the U.S. and abroad, please see this article from Mother Jones.
Surely, Trump can find at least five good military golf courses located within the U.S. One highly rated 18-hole golf course is located at West Point, New York. Another one is the Naval Academy’s 18-hole golf course located in Annapolis, Maryland. Then, according to golfpass.com there is the number one rated military golf course in the country at Trails West Golf Course, located in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
If I were Trump, I would also stop all outdoor rallies unless they are located within easily secured / confined spaces such as football or baseball stadiums. To handle overflow crowds the Trump campaign could simply rent a gigantic jumbotron to be placed outside the venue.
That way the U.S. can greatly avoid another presidential assassination and state funeral, which tragically last occurred when former President John F. Kennedy was interred on November 25, 1963 in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, whose grave is marked by an eternal flame.
