Soon to be certified as the Virginia High School League’s second all-time assists leader, Cave Spring setter Lauren Bosche will now bring her unselfish game to the Liberty University volleyball squad as a walk-on. Bosche (Bo-shay) signed her letter of intent with the Lynchburg private school earlier this week. She played on two state championship teams during her years with the Knights.
“She ran [the offense] very efficiently from the tenth grade on,” said Tanis, who also helped coached Bosche in the off-season juniors program. “She’s just so athletic [and] can cover the court gracefully. She had to be the trigger to make it all happen.”
Tanis said Liberty has a “phenomenal program,” with the Flames winning the Big South Conference for two years running. Liberty has played in the NCAA postseason tourney the past two years – in 2008 against eventual Final Four contender Nebraska. Bosche turned down a D-1 scholarship offer from Loyola-Maryland in order to stay closer to home.
“Their players were really welcoming,” said Bosche, who also liked the competitive attitude of the Liberty coaches during her recruiting visit. “I’m really excited to play in college.”
Lauren received full ride scholarshifp this year after a year of hard work as a Freshman Redshirt at Liberty University. She is doing awesome.
