Retirement Paradise

The Roanoke Valley continues to attract a high number of Seniors as its reputation spreads as a “highly welcoming and seasonally balanced” retirement location. Roanoke City, Roanoke County and Salem have between 5 and 6 percent more citizens age 65 and older than state and national averages. (Roanoke City 16.4% / Roanoke County 15.8% / Salem 16.8% of their total populations.) Key characteristics that attract people to come to the valley to retire include: cultural amenities, economic stability, low traffic congestion, close proximity to major urban areas, quality medical care and the natural beauty of Southwest Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
