Thirteen women recognized for outstanding community contributions
DePaul Community Resources has announced that the following individuals are recipients of the 10th Annual Women of Achievement Awards in the following categories: Arts: Janet M. Byington, Foster Parenting: Bettie Jennings, Human Relations: Joy Carter Parrish, Social Services: Betty Etzler, Volunteerism:* Helen Elizabeth Davis, Volunteerism:* Nancy L. Goehring. The Women of Achievement Awards recognize women of the Roanoke Valley, New River Valley and Lynchburg who have made significant contributions to the community through career, leadership and volunteer activities. The awards were presented at a luncheon honoring 47 nominees on Tuesday, October 2 at the Sheraton Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center.
“DePaul is excited about the growth of the awards with the expansion of the nominee area to the New River Valley and Lynchburg and a record number of nominees this year,” said Sue Bentley, Executive Director of DePaul Community Resources. “Presenting the Women of Achievement awards is one way DePaul carries out its vision of creating strength in families and communities while empowering individuals. We hope recognizing women for their achievements inspires others to make a difference in their community.”
