SFCS, a nationally recognized, full-service architecture firm based in Roanoke, Virginia, announced today that it has completed its merger with Kidwell Engineering and Design, Inc., a Louisville-based engineering firm.
The partnership works because of the quality work both SFCS and Kidwell Engineering have been doing to influence the development of senior living and higher education spaces across the Midwest. The merger will provide clients a full range of comprehensive architecture and engineering services that include design, planning, electrical, structural and mechanical engineering, plumbing, fire protection and interior design.
“After working together on numerous projects, it became apparent that Kidwell Engineering was the perfect partner and Louisville was the perfect place to expand,” said Tye Campbell, CEO of SFCS. “Roanoke is home to us, so it was important that our new location offered the same feeling and quality of life. Not only did Steve and his staff make Louisville feel like home, but the city itself proved to be a hub of culture, food, and music. It’s the kind of place you want to live.”
Prior to the merger, SFCS and Kidwell Engineering worked closely on more than 30 projects to provide design services for prominent organizations including Cypress Cove (Fort Myers, FL), the Blue Ridge Community College Bioscience Building (Weyers Cave, VA), and (list another). Through this partnership, the two firms discovered many similarities in their approach to business and client service.
“We didn’t just work with the team at SFCS, we really connected,” said Steve Kidwell, former President and Chief Electrical Engineer at Kidwell Engineering and Design. “We shared the same focus on service. Both companies would go above and beyond. It quickly became apparent we had the same work ethic.”
Since its inception in 2012, Kidwell Engineering has become a reputable and established engineering firm, providing MEP engineering and project management services to companies such as UPS, CSX Transportation, Toyota, Humana, the State of Kentucky, and the Department of Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, and founded in 1920, SFCS is a senior living, education and civic/public architecture, engineering, and interior design firm that creates solutions for positive change and elevates the human experience.
