October 25th is Last Day to Apply for A Mail Ballot

Participating in Virginia’s democracy has never been easier.

If you plan to vote by mail, please remember that the deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is rapidly approaching. You must submit your request to your local voter registration office by 5:00 p.m. on October 25, 2024.

This year, Virginia voters will cast ballots for the offices of President and Vice President and elect members of Congress to represent them in our nation’s Capitol. In addition to these posts, there are also several local, municipal-level elections. Be sure to check your ballot ahead of time so you know what to expect.

To apply for a mail-in ballot:

  1. Submit your application to your local voter registration office before the deadline.
  2. Provide necessary information, such as your name and address, to ensure your request is processed smoothly.
  3. Follow up to confirm your application has been received and processed.

Important Notes:

  • No special reason is required to vote by mail; it’s an option available to all eligible voters.
  • Track your ballot once it’s mailed to ensure it arrives on time and is counted.
  • And remember, as a voter, you have rights!

Other important deadlines to keep in mind heading toward Election Day:

  • Friday, Oct. 15: Last day to register to vote or update your registration. Note that same-day registration is available up to Election Day with provisional ballots.
  • Saturday, Oct. 26: Local voter registration offices will be open for early voting.
  • Saturday, Nov. 2: Last day for early in-person voting at your local voter registration office, open until 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 5: Election Day! Polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Taking these steps is vital to participating in our democracy and shaping the future of our community. Don’t forget to share this important information with your voting-age family and friends!
