Vice President Kamala Harris stated in an ABC News interview last March 24 that “any major military operation in Gaza [i.e. Rafah] would be a huge mistake [my emphasis].” In retrospect, she was totally wrong, which reflects her total lack of foreign policy experience, and her complete lack of street smarts and common sense.
If Israel had listened to the advice of Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Rafah would still be a Hamas redoubt with much of their political and military leadership including Yahya Sinwar most probably still alive. Plus, the entire strategic Philadelphi corridor, which is “100 meters (yards) wide in some places — that runs the 14-kilometer (8.6-mile) length of the Gaza side of the border with Egypt,” would still have been available with total impunity to smuggle rockets, fuel, slaves, kidnapped Yazidi women and munitions through an elaborate maze of tunnels into the Gaza Strip.
In anticipation of Harris’ appeasement of Hamas and the growing worldwide criticism of the Jewish state, Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer preemptively and defiantly stated on March 22, “We’re gonna [sic] go in and finish this job, and anybody who doesn’t understand that doesn’t understand that the nerve of the Jews, that existential nerve, was touched” by Hamas’ brutal attack on October 7, 2023. That day Hamas tortured, executed, mutilated, burned, beheaded, raped, and killed more than 1,200 Israelis including 43 Americans, and kidnapped 251 Israelis including foreign nationals.
Unlike Harris, Dermer and most members of Israel’s War Cabinet knew, and still realize that only the total destruction of Hamas will achieve victory, liberate the Gaza Strip, rebuild it, de-Hamasificate it. and encourage the future normalization of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia in the spirit of the Abraham Accords. The fortuitous killing of Yahya Sinwar on October 16 did not mean the end of the war in the Gaza Strip, but only the beginning of the end.
Unbelievably, Kamala Harris within an hour of Sinwar’s confirmed death was calling for another appalling and appeasing ceasefire when she timidly stated, “This moment gives us an opportunity to finally end the war in Gaza.”
What Harris does not understand is that Hamas is like a group of rabid ravenous rats, who have no regard for human life, especially impoverished Palestinian men, women and children, whom are not allowed access to the protective Hamas tunnels or bunkers in addition to being used as human shields and regarded as collateral damage. Israel must thoroughly kill or imprison the remaining Hamas fanatics so that their genocidal anti-Semitic ideology cannot ever again metastasize within the Gaza Strip or West Bank.
As Leif Leibowitz wrote on October 17 in the New York Post in an article entitled, “Israel, ignore Democrats’ warped cease-fire calls after Hamas big’s [Sinwar’s] death”: “It’s a talking point we’re likely to hear more and more these coming days — and it’s wrong, warped, stupid [my emphasis] and dangerous.” Joe Biden, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Kamala Harris have continued daily to repeat these “warped cease-fire calls” since October 16.
Leibowitz added, “Just look at the instantly iconic picture of the slain Sinwar, laying [sic] lifeless in the rubble as three robust Israeli soldiers tower over his soot-covered corpse, and you’ll realize that Washington’s insistence on diplomacy at any cost is nonsense: Sometimes, war is precisely the answer.”
I agree 100% with Mr. Leibowitz.
In plain words, Israel wants a complete victory in the Gaza Strip exactly like the Allies wanted a complete victory in Nazi Germany on May 7, 1945. It is not a complicated military concept to understand for Israel but to the U.S. it is because we have not won a war since 1945 despite having spent tens of trillions of dollars at the Pentagon since then.
In my opinion, Kamala Harris, who has always lacked gravitas, never won either a Democrat caucus or primary, accomplished nothing as vice president and was a border czar catastrophe, is too inexperienced in foreign policy and too timid to be our next commander-in-chief. Her lack of any foreign policy acumen has been clearly seen by her past appalling and appeasing advice to Israel to accept a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip when victory over Hamas is in clear sight.
The thought of Kamala Harris occupying the White House and negotiating with either Vladimir Putin of Russia or Xi Jinping of Communist China truly frightens me.
