Intercept Health Hosts Foster Care Aware Event in Roanoke to Support Local Children

|

Date:

May 6, 2025

Intercept Health, an organization providing comprehensive mental/behavioral health, substance use disorder, and foster care services across Virginia, is hosting Foster Care Aware, a Foster Care Awareness Event on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Intercept Health’s Roanoke Headquarters. The event is free and open to the public, and the organization encourages the community to come out and learn more about how our communities can better support the 5,000+ children in Virginia’s foster care system and how Intercept Health supports these children and their families.

The event will feature fun, family-friendly activities such as The Foam Party Guy, a live DJ, a bounce house, yard games, face-painting and free family photos. There will also be several local food trucks attending in partnership with Intercept Health as Foster-Friendly Businesses: Mountain Grille, Smooshed, and Rocky Mount Smokehouse.

“May is Foster Care Awareness month, and it is important for everyone to understand how we can best support children in Virginia’s foster care system,” said Kyle McMahon, Chief Development Officer for Intercept Health. “This event is an exciting way to connect with the community, raise awareness about the needs of children in foster care, and highlight the need for loving foster parents feeling led to support our children through all stages of their foster care journey.”
